Andrew S. Bell is an American-Colombian composer based in Lawrence, KS. His interests are in the synthesis of neo-expressionist and neo-romantic sonorities and the exploration of abstract sound worlds through instrumental and vocal extended techniques. In 2026, The Blue Veil, a work based on a prose text by Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío, was recorded by the New York-based group TAK Ensemble. In 2025, he assisted Constantine Kostopoulos in the orchestration of Timothy Noble’s Alamo. Andrew writes music for orchestra, chamber ensemble, and voice. He is currently completing a DMA in composition at the University of Kansas.

Coming from a mixed cultural heritage and having completed degrees at universities in the United States and in Colombia, Andrew is passionate about building communities through the arts that transcend borders and promote the free exchange of ideas and narratives. As a recipient of the Cultural Ambassador Award in 2019 from the municipality of Gachancipá, Colombia, for outreach through the arts, he has experienced the impact that music can have in society.
