Javiera Anne A Rossel

Javiera Rossel is a journalist, researcher, and second-year doctoral student in Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas.

Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, she holds an undergraduate degree in Journalism and a Master's in Marketing, both from the University of Chile. She worked for several years in public institutions and nonprofit organizations, coordinating communication strategies related to energy policy, health, and human rights, and later served as Executive Director of the Chilean Observatory of Obstetric Violence (OVO Chile), where she led national advocacy campaigns and research on reproductive justice and respectful maternity care.

In 2025, she began her doctoral studies at KU as a Fulbright-ANID scholar, with research interests in health communication, digital inequalities, eHealth literacy, and social media activism, focusing on women's health and reproductive rights in underrepresented communities.

She also serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for International Journalism. As a photographer, videographer, and traveler who has visited more than 40 countries, she brings a strong interest in cross-cultural and global perspectives to her work. She currently lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with her family.
