University Affairs (UA) Committee
ANY STUDENT at the University of Kansas can be a voting member of a standing committee!
University Affairs addreses issues that affect student life, including academic policies, student services, funding for organizations and other non-academic university events.
If you attend the FIRST meeting of the year (Wednesday August 27, 2008) you will have voting rights immediately. If not, you will not recieve voting rights until you attend your second committee meeting. If you are a student senator you are required to be a part of one standing committee (exception: Graduate, Law, Non-Traditional, University Senators).
General Resposibilities of the Committee
The standing committees are to take a direct and active role in the legislative process. They are to research areas of concern to the student body of the University of Kansas and advise the Student Seante on action it shoud take. The standing committees shall receive direction from the Student Body President, the Student Executive Committee, and from the Student Senate through legislation, as provided for in SSRR. THe Student Executive Committee shall object to a committee's action only if they feel the standing committee is infringing upon the jurisdiction of another standing committee or of Student Senate.
